Mass of Polish Independence at St. Josephat's

The formation team, moderated by the director of formation, includes the formation advisors, the academic dean (ex officio), the director of field education (ex officio), and the director of spiritual formation (ex officio). The goal of the formation team is to assist the seminarians in their integration of the spiritual, academic, and pastoral components of formation. Formation advisors serve as the principal liaison between individual seminarians and members of the faculty and administration.

In order to foster mature interaction, mutual trust, and communication, seminarians are assigned a formation advisor and accordingly are expected to participate within a formation group. Each formation group meets monthly, during which various formational topics are addressed. In addition, each student meets individually with his formation advisor on a monthly basis. During the initial meeting in September, the seminarian, together with his advisor, works on establishing his personal goals for the forthcoming academic year. These goals, established by the student and advisor, provide the framework for the formation process throughout the year and establish a standard of measure for the student's annual evaluation. In preparation for this process, each student prepares a written self-evaluation which forms the basis for the text submitted by the advisor to the faculty-at-large. The rector presents the evaluation in its final form to both the student and the respective diocese.
